The location for a new Engadine Fire Station has been secured, marking a major milestone for emergency response in the Shire.
The Minister for Emergency Services Jihad Dib, Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell and Member for Heathcote, Maryanne Stuart have inspected the land acquired for a planned new fire station.
The purchase of two lots adjoining both Railway Parade (Princes Highway) and the Old Princes Highway allows for strategically placed capabilities for the area.
Consultation will take place with local fire crews to plan for a new Engadine Fire Station which will provide modern facilities for firefighters. Feedback from crews will inform how services are delivered from a future station to best serve the area and support the wider FRNSW network.
This announcement is part of a $5 million commitment to upgrade Fire and Rescue NSW stations in the Heathcote electorate, which include completed works at Coledale, Sutherland, Thirroul and Helensburgh Fire Stations.
This year the Minns Labor Government is investing a further $98.7 million to keep people safe and better serve the community with upgraded fire stations and new fleet.

Emergency Services Minister, Jihad Dib said:
“Acquiring the land for a future Engadine Fire Station is part of Minns Labor Government election commitment to strengthen emergency services in the Shire and ensure communities are better protected.
“We promised to invest in frontline services, to prepare for population growth across Sydney, and ensure fire services are best placed to cater for growing needs.
“This investment is part of our broader commitment to strengthen frontline emergency services right across NSW, so our communities can rely on emergency response when it matters most.”
Fire and Rescue NSW Commissioner Jeremy Fewtrell said:
“We recognise the need to design modern fire stations from which our crews can be proud to work. FRNSW has a number of renewal and replacement programs that assess and prioritise new and modernised stations.
“Now the land has been acquired at Engadine, we can progress to the next steps, consulting with the local crews about what they would like and need in a new fire station.
“We are ensuring our people have a suitable base of operations and are prepared for anything, whether they’re responding to road crashes on the highway, local fires within the Shire or rescues in the nearby national park.”
Member for Heathcote, Maryanne Stuart said:
“We’re backing our frontline NSW Fire and Rescue officers, who put themselves in harm's way every day.
“The current Engadine Fire Station was built back in the 1960s. With the population growth, the Minns Labor government is planning infrastructure to meet the demands of the future.
