The Minns Labor Government is delivering action to protect our environment, expand our national parks, support renewable energy and strengthen environmental protections across New South Wales.
Protecting Koalas
We are establishing the Great Koala National Park to protect almost half a million hectares of natural habitat for 12,000 koalas.
Expanding National Parks
We have added a further 617,000 hectares of pristine land to the National Parks register, on top of the Great Koala National Park.
In 2025, 900 national parks hosted a record 65.5 million visits.
Delivering Renewable Energy
We are delivering an additional 10 gigawatts of renewable energy to the grid by 2030.
This is an increase of almost 70 per cent and enough to power more than 4.3 million homes.
Reducing Emissions
We have legislated to reduce emissions by:
-
50 per cent by 2030;
-
70 per cent by 2035; and
-
net zero by 2050.
Protecting Our Coastal Waters
We have banned oil and gas exploration and mining in New South Wales coastal waters.
Stronger Penalties for Environmental Crimes
We are better protecting our environment by doubling the penalties for environmental crimes, including dumping asbestos.
Stopping the Warragamba Dam Wall Raise
We stopped the raising of the Warragamba Dam Wall, protecting the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park.
